ENI Facades partnered with Dominion Constructors to deliver an advanced facade solution for the College of Engineering building at the University of Canterbury. The project encompassed site measuring, shop drawings, component manufacturing, and on-site delivery. Given the intricacy of the metalwork, innovative thinking was essential to determine the optimal manufacturing method for the components. Our team embarked on a journey of creativity and problem-solving to design a facade that serves both functional and aesthetic purposes. The new facade acts as a sunshade for the building, allowing natural light to filter through. To meet the project’s demands, we adopted adjustable brackets instead of custom-making each bracket, demonstrating our commitment to innovative solutions. Our fabrication team played integral roles in this project, demanding careful attention to detail and precision. Every component was crafted with skill and expertise, ensuring the highest quality standards were upheld. The new facade not only enhances the building’s aesthetics but also promotes sustainability by optimising natural light and shade. Powder coating was applied to the metalwork, ensuring durability and protection against the elements while maintaining a sleek and modern finish. The success of this project underscores the collaborative efforts between ENI Facades and Dominion Constructors. Our partnership enabled us to overcome challenges, think creatively, and deliver exceptional results, earning Dominion Constructors recognition as finalists in the 2018 NZ Building Industry Awards.
