Manchester Street, a key area in Christchurch undergoing significant redevelopment since the 2011 earthquakes, required modern and functional bus shelters. ENI Manufacturing, in collaboration with Dominion Constructors, was contracted to bring this vision to life.
Our team’s expertise in engineering and design was pivotal in developing shop drawings based on the detailed specifications provided by architects and structural engineers. The original requirement for the bus shelters included full galvanisation, which posed feasibility challenges.
ENI’s innovative solution was to employ zinc-arc spraying, providing the metalwork with similar protective qualities. This approach not only met the project’s durability standards but also ensured efficiency in execution. Additionally, working closely with the architects and structural engineers, we modified some of the larger components from welded to bolted connections. This change facilitated easier transportation and on-site assembly, proving beneficial for the overall project logistics. The Manchester Street bus shelters are notable for their complex design and assembly. These large structures encompass smaller enclosed seating areas, demanding precise engineering and assembly skills. ENI’s team meticulously handled the design, automation, fabrication, welding, powder coating, and mechanical assembly processes to ensure the shelters met the highest standards of safety and usability. The completion of the Manchester Street bus shelters stands as a testament to ENI Manufacturing’s dedication to innovation and collaboration. These new structures not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area but also significantly improve the functionality and comfort for the city’s bus commuters. This project underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional results through teamwork and creative problem-solving.
