High Street Tram Stop

Building a replica of a historic Christchurch tram shelter

We have been involved in many aspects of the Christchurch rebuild since the 2011 earthquakes. This tram shelter was a particularly unique project that was completed in 2022. The tram tracks in Christchurch city centre have recently been extended to their former route. The additional tram stop on High Street was supposed to have a similar look to other historic shelters around the city.

The project

Design

Fulton Hogan, who was contracted by Christchurch City Council, came to us with the plans for the historic shelters. Our design team took these as a base and created specific CAD drawings for the construction, so components were optimised for the manufacturing process.

Manufacturing process

All elements of the tram shelter construction were manufactured by ENI, including the sign on top and the bench inside.

This project is a good example of how we can accommodate low-volume production of unique pieces. With our broad spectrum of capabilities, from metal fabrication through to powder coating, we can cover all aspects of the manufacturing process.

Installation

After all components of the construction were manufactured and assembled, we delivered them to the work site and Fulton Hogan handled the installation.

Project manufacturing

We work with the government, construction businesses and other organisations to bring their visions to life. Our team guides through the manufacturing process from start to finish.
